Texas Evolution is a Valley band. Friday, November 6, they play like one.

Ladies Night. $10 tickets. Doors at 7:00 PM. That is the whole setup — and it is enough.

Evolucion started in the Rio Grande Valley in 2005 under Chris Ramirez and Sergio Mendoza, two Santa Rosa musicians who grew up on La Mafia, Mazz, Ruben Vela, Los Dos Gilbertos, and Little Joe and then built a dance band out of it. They took Best Local Group in 2004, backed the South Texas Music Awards stage next to names like Los Palominos, Jennifer Peña, Michael Salgado, Jimmy González, and Ramón Ayala, then signed with Marquise Music and dropped the self-titled Evolucion album with Johnny Arreola of Los Palominos sitting in.

Twenty years later they are still what they were built to be: a Tejano/cumbia band that does not leave a dance floor standing around. If you caught them at Mustang Lounge in January, you already know. If you didn’t, this is the cheap-ticket Friday to fix that.

Ladies Night means the room gets loud earlier. $10 means you can bring the whole crew. Do not wait until 9:00 and hope there is still a table.
