Los Musicales is the Poteet family band that has been the launchpad for Tejano voices for decades. David Lee Garza on accordion. Ram Herrera. Emilio Navaira. Jay Perez. Marcos Orozco. Oscar G. All of them came through this band before they became names of their own. The catalog is the reason people still fill a floor: “Chiquilina.” “Llévame Contigo.” “El Privilegio.” “Destéllame.” Cezar Martinez is out front now, and the band still plays like the standard every other Tejano group gets measured against.
The Delta Boyz are the Valley half of the night. Javier and Jaime Gonzalez built the band in Edcouch-Elsa in 2012 after years on the road with Ruben Vela, Albert Zamora, and Elida Reyna. Javier on accordion and lead vocals. Jaime on bajo sexto. Eddie on bass. Tury on drums. Polkas, huapangos, rancheras — the Delta-area conjunto sound, Los Dos Gilbertos in the blood, updated. They were inducted into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame in 2023. In 2024 they swept the Guadalupe Conjunto Awards, seven trophies, including Conjunto Band of the Year and Single of the Year for “2G’s Medley.” New album Puro Conjunto 956. New single “Corazón Libertino.”
That is the Saturday: a Tejano institution and a 956 conjunto band that already won the room. $30 will not leave empty tables.
